Ivanhoe Runners
Next GP Race

All,
The committee have decided that the next Grand Prix event will be the Derby Runner League cross-country race at Bosworth on February 14th. We will be encouraging car-sharing to the event - probably arranged on the Friday night 12th February.
All runners are encouraged to do the event as we lie in strong positions in both the men's and women's leagues, and you will gain points in the Ivanhoe Runners grand prix series. Also, its FREE as the Ashby 20 pays for LRRL and DRL entry fees for Ivanhoe Runners - another great reason to get involved and support the Ashby 20 on 21st March (see Roger / Tim / Alistair) !!
For information for new, lapsed or forgetful members, the Grand Prix series is based on 11 races across the year chosen by the Fixtures Secretary / Committee; in these races, the first Ivanhoe man and woman home scores 25 points, the second home 24 points and so on .... . At the end of the series (which is calendar year based), prizes are awarded both for the overall male / female winners but also in the main age categories - so there are plenty of opportunities to win some silverware !
Catherine Massie is the new fixtures secretary and is working on choosing the grand prix races - so see Catherine if you have ideas on races to include !
See you at Bosworth
Welcome

We meet every Wednesday and Friday evening at 7.00pm at Hood Park Leisure Centre for a club run. In winter we run around the local streets due to the dark, in summer, routes can be a mixture of road and cross-country. Many members also organise an informal Sunday morning run on the weekends they are not racing. We cater for a wide range of abilities, and club nights often consist of many different paced groups, ranging from over 10-minute milers to sub 6-minute mile runners. We will run routes that can have cut off points from 3 to 10 miles during the winter and various different distances during the summer. Beginners are more than welcome, although a good level of fitness is required, together with the ability to run continuously for at least 30 minutes. If this is not possible at the present time we can give advice to help you on your way to achieving this.
The club offers free coaching to members, by way of a weekly speed/hill session (Thursday evening in winter, Tuesday evening in summer), plus a weekly circuit training session (Tuesday evening - winter only) extra payment required for this session. We recommend that to improve your running you compete in races, however if you only wish to run for fun then that too is great.
We run to a standards scheme and a copy of the standards table is available for your perusal, all members should be able to achieve some standards at some distances during their time with Ivanhoe Runners, and these are recognised at the annual awards ceremony. Annual membership is £ 30.00 payable on 1st March, If you join after September 1st this will reduce to £ 15.00 This membership covers England Athletics affiliation fees, (thus reducing the price of you race entries and offering you insurance cover at affiliated races), free use of showers at Hood Park Leisure Centre, access to UKA qualified coaches and structured coaching sessions.
